TED KIRBY, ARTIST & HEALER
Art was part and parcel of both my creative journey and my therapeutic process when I got onto the path and began to explore myself in my mid twenties. It was a magical and mystical journey where the art work that expressed itself through me, to my amazement, mirrored all the new information and insights that the practitioners of various holistic therapies were also sharing with me.
Dealing with a life threatening condition I had no other choice than to throw myself into this new, sometimes scary yet wonderful healing experience and journey into transformation and growth. Art therapy was a big part of that process for me. I am grateful to each and every one of those practitioners and doctors. They all contributed to guiding me into my power so I could fully recover my health and in the process create for the first time deep, personal and meaningful art.
As I healed myself physically through various alternative approaches and Buddhist meditation, I realized I could begin to share my healing abilities with others. The same was true of my art and the process of montaging photographic images in my work. As I taught and facilitated my art practice, structure and methods to the people that attended my classes, I in turn saw, as they did also, that issues in their lives were made manifest on the computer screen or photographic paper. As if like magic, through this form of healing art they could see and engage with the feelings surrounding their personal issues. Through this process of art therapy they gained more clarity, vision and insight into themselves.
Art is a powerful self-exploration tool both for myself and the people who shared this process with me. The art does not lie, it expresses our innermost feelings and I have found it can be a tool for self-knowledge, acceptance and healing. Along with my training in transforming cellular memory and also my training as an actor and film director, creative art therapy workshops can move people to places that only the intelligence of the universe can orchestrate. It is my job to facilitate this. And it is a great joy!

“Ted was fantastic with the groups. Ted’s way of working encouraged them to engage, they were challenged creatively and supported to create work they were proud of. In fact Ted influenced me in deciding to follow what has been a childhood dream to do a degree in fine art. His passion for Art is tangible and inspiring for anyone fortunate to work for him.”
